The Thomas Foster Memorial was built with three solid copper dome roofs and on the middle dome was a golden ball that could be seen for miles.

After a very short time one of the residents of Uxbridge noticed the golden ball was missing and the search was on to find the gold ball and put it back on the prestigious Thomas Foster Memorial.

After many months of searching it was decided the golden ball was missing forever and had been removed by persons unknown, but the residents at that time would not give up the idea that someone would come forward eventually and put the golden ball back in it's original location in the middle of the centre dome.

It has been many years since the gold ball went missing and there have been many different stories as to what might have happened to the golden ball.
It is still a mystery as to where or who took the golden ball and we are asking anyone who might find a picture of the Foster with the gold ball on the centre dome,or if anyone knows where it might have been taken to please contact the Thomas Foster Committee and let us know so  we can make the Foster complete again.

The real mystery of the Foster Memorial
is in it's creation. The fact that it came from some one's imagination. It's magnificance and uniqueness remains as a tribute to the Artists and Thomas Foster. And an enormous contribution to the history of Ontario
The Chi-Rho emblem can be viewed as the first Christian Cross.
As a pre-Christian symbol, the Chi-ro signified good fortune. The Chi ro became an important Christian symbol when adopted by the Roman Emperor Constantine, representing the first two letters in the name of Christ- the Chi, or 'ch,' and Rho, or 'r.' According to Church Father Eusebius, on the eve of the Battle of the Milvan Bridge, the Emperor saw the emblem in a dream, with the inscription, "By this sign, you shall conquer." According to the story, the battle was won. In return for the victory, Constantine erected Christian churches. Unfortunately, this story is very unlikely, as Constantine's conversion occured on his deathbed, if at all. In any case, the symbol was the standard of the Emperor's army, prominently displayed on the Emperor's labarum, or battle standard.
Before it became the monogram of Christ, the chi rho was the monogram of Chronos, the god of time, and an emblem of several solar deities.
The Chi-ro is also the origin of the tradition of abbreviating "Christ" in "christian" or "Christmas" to "X."
In Hebrew, Chi-Rho equates to Tav-Resh. The chi rho was used in hermetic alchemical texts to denote time.

The Mystery
In the chamber below the Memorial are five sealed crypts. One of the crypts is a time capsule to be opened approximately fifty years from now. Speculation among some of the senior citizens of the area suggests that the other four crypts house the remains of close confidants of Thomas Foster. We'll never know. These four crypts will remain sealed for all time; the sanctity of the Memorial is protected and honoured.
