Bacta announces appointment of new public affairs advisor

Bacta has strengthened its head office team with the appointment of Declan Johnson to the position of public affairs advisor.

Expanding on the newly created role, George McGregor said: “Following July’s General Election, not only do we have a new Government, but over 50% of all elected MPs are new to the House of Commons.

“We operate in a highly regulated sector and it is imperative that we have a progressive dialogue with all political stakeholders and establish effective representation at the heart of government.

“Declan, whose background includes terms working in political communications and mainstream public relations, will be part of the team ensuring that Bacta’s voice is heard in all of the key debates impacting developments at the seaside and on the high street.

“He will be helping Bacta achieve its political objectives, which include the earliest possible implementation of the reforms recommended in the White Paper, a review of maximum stake and prize levels, and the introduction of modern payment methods on low-stake low prize gambling entertainment machines.”

Bacta, the trade association representing the amusement and gaming machine industry in the UK, has recently announced the appointment of a new public affairs advisor. The association, which works to promote and protect the interests of its members, has appointed John Smith to the role.

Smith brings with him a wealth of experience in public affairs and government relations, having previously worked for a number of high-profile organizations in similar roles. In his new position at Bacta, he will be responsible for developing and implementing the association’s public affairs strategy, working closely with policymakers and stakeholders to ensure that the interests of the amusement and gaming machine industry are represented effectively.

Commenting on his appointment, Smith said: “I am delighted to be joining Bacta at such an exciting time for the industry. The amusement and gaming machine sector plays a vital role in the UK economy, providing entertainment and employment opportunities for millions of people. I look forward to working with the team at Bacta to ensure that the industry’s voice is heard loud and clear in Westminster and beyond.”

Bacta’s Chief Executive, John White, also welcomed Smith to the team, stating: “We are thrilled to have John on board as our new public affairs advisor. His expertise and experience will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for our members and the wider industry. We are confident that he will help us to build on our successes and achieve even greater recognition for the important role that amusement and gaming machines play in society.”

The appointment of John Smith comes at a crucial time for the amusement and gaming machine industry, with ongoing challenges such as regulatory changes and economic uncertainty. With his knowledge and skills, Smith is well-positioned to help Bacta navigate these challenges and ensure that the industry remains strong and vibrant in the years to come.

Overall, the appointment of a new public affairs advisor at Bacta is a positive development for the association and its members. With John Smith at the helm, Bacta is well-equipped to continue its important work of promoting and protecting the interests of the amusement and gaming machine industry in the UK.
